Ndamukong Suh Poised For A Big Season

As the second overall selection in this year’s NFL draft, there is every indication that the Detroit Lions’ brass made the right move. The franchise is building up its stable of high draft picks that are sure to make a major impact during the upcoming season including Matthew Stafford, Calvin Johnson, and Jahvid Best.

At six feet four inches and over three hundred pounds, Suh still possesses stellar mobility with his uncanny lateral movement. He can also rush the quarterback simply by running over blockers and pushing them deep in the backfield. This should prove extremely beneficial in the 3-4 defense.
There is less of a learning curve at the defensive end position than some others in the NFL. Teams can waste millions of dollars on top picks while they sit on the bench and learn systems. The Cardinals would certainly like to have the Matt Leinart pick back. Just like in every interview scenario following a selection, I am sure they said he had a tremendous upside with a lot of potential.
He did, in a way.
There was potential to blow his time and money partying and playing beer pong. On the other extreme side when it comes to draft picks, Suh can step in and make an immediate impact on the field.
The 2006 draft produced Mario Williams as the first selection. This product of North Carolina State was not the popular choice for the fans of the Houston Texans. They wanted to see Reggie Bush in their uniform. He was the sexier pick because he was showcased at a powerhouse University and offensive players are usually in the spotlight more.
Williams turned out to be the better pick thus far. He is the team’s all-time leader in sacks with nearly forty and was arguably the best defensive lineman in 2007. This defensive end was a pro bowl player the last two seasons as well. This is evidence that Suh-as a defensive tackle- is the right choice for the Lions.
Matthew Stafford already possesses numerous weapons on the offensive side of the ball: Best, Burleson, and Calvin Johnson will make life easier with their play making ability. It is of the utmost importance to have fresh legs at the running back position. Fans have seen the precipitous decline of LaDanian Tomlinson’s production. That is why the Chargers feel comfortable moving forward with Ryan Matthews out of Fresno State. Burleson and Johnson provide opportunities for Stafford to pad his stats with their ability to gain yards after the catch.
Kyle Vanden Bosch, defensive end, will make Suh’s transition to Sundays easier. As a fellow alumnus of the University of Nebraska, he can take Suh under his wing and demonstrate the work ethic and routines that have made him a successful veteran. One thing is always certain for the Lions, Jason Hanson will be kicking the ball through the uprights. Another is a very probable outcome: Ndamukong Suh will be a very productive pro defensive lineman who is deserved of the second overall selection.

Top Five Back Up Running Backs to Draft

In 2010 you should consider yourself lucky if you can draft a feature back to your fantasy football team. What about those guys in the back end of the first round? They are likely going to be looking at some WRs and QBs while they build a Running Back by Committee themselves.
With the emergence of players like Andre Johnson and Aaron Rodgers, as well as some others at their positions, some owners may find themselves missing out on some RBs when they use a top pick on the other positions too. In fact, Johnson, Rodgers, and Randy Moss all have an Average Draft Position in the first round. Reggie Wayne, Drew Brees, and Calvin Johnson are right there at the top of the second. The owners going with those guys are going to have to do their homework on Running Backs later in the draft.
Today we are going to look at the Top Five Running Backs to own that are not considered the starter on their teams. It is important to be aware of these guys as they will still be getting you fantasy points on a weekly basis and they are a twisted ankle by the starter away from a great sleeper position. If you use an early pick on QB or WR, keep a look out for these guys later on.
Jonathan Stewart (ADP-Rd 4, pick 10): Stewart is in a unique situation in Carolina. He is considered the #2 RB, but he still gets more touches than a first stringer on some teams, as reflected in his 221 rushes for 1133 yards and five TDs in 2009. For owners that don’t go with two running backs in the first three rounds, Stewart is just about the best RB2 that you can get in your lineup.
Felix Jones(ADP-Rd 6, pick 2): If Jones can stay healthy himself, he can find himself in a situation where he is the lead back in Dallas. The Cowboys are not ready to give up on Marion Barber yet, but if he can’t stay on the field they will not have a choice but to give way to Jones. While they would have Tashard Choice in there, Jones gets more touches that can very easily turn into home runs. even with Barber in there, the split will keep him alive in games. If you go RB, WR, QB, or a combination of those, Jones can still make a decent #2RB.
Brandon Jacobs (ADP-Rd 6, Pick 12): The Giants are ready to get back to some smash mouth football in New York. It appears they have taken the corner to Ahmad Bradshaw as the starting tailback, but Jacobs is still around…and not happy about it. Since Jacobs has not made a full season since his rookie year in 2005, it may keep him healthy. we see Jacobs as a decent later pick up as a RB3 for your bye week filler with the potential to do more depnding on the carry split and the health of Bradshaw.
Reggie Bush (ADP-Rd 6, pick 8): “I wouldn’t draft Reggie Bush unless it was a PPR league.” That is what you will hear by many owners, yet he goes on average in the later half of the sixth round. The important thing with Bush is to play your match ups. Pay attention to who else is out on the Saints in the Running and Passing game. Pay attention to who they are playing. Reggie will score big some weeks, not so much others. If Pierre Thomas goes down, you will see more Reggie Bush. Fact. Did we mention that he is worth a little more in PPR?
Ricky Williams (ADP-Rd 7, pick 7): Ricky Williams is often forgot about. His numbers in 2009 were very similar to Jonathan Stewart (241 carries, 1121 yards, four TDs) with Ronnie Brown going down. In fact, it is important to note that Ronnie Brown has only completed one sixteen game season in his career. While other owners in your league think about how Ricky is getting old and Ronnie is the Wildcat guy for the offense, you pick up a solid #3RB with an upside that shoots up if Brown goes down. Keep in mind that the Fins should even have a bit of help from the passing game taking pressure off the run.

Miles Austin: Is He Tempting Fate With the Celebrity Curse?
July 2, 2010 | Filed Under Dallas Cowboys, Humor, Miles Austin, NFL, Reggie Bush, Tony Romo | Comments OffIt's been reported that Dallas Cowboys wide receiver, Miles Austin, is courting Kim Kardashian.
My initial reaction was, "Good for you, Miles!" Then, "You know, this may NOT be good for the Cowboys."
Is the star receiver tempting fate with this temptress?
Tom Brady has Gisele Bundchen, Hank Baskett has Kendra Wilkinson, Tony Romo had Jessica Simpson, and of course, Reggie Bush had Kim Kardashian.
Although Tom Brady is still a Pro Bowl quarterback, he has seen a performance drop since his marriage to Gisele. Some say it was due to his 2008 injury. Others say he faked it to spend more time with his supermodel wife.
There was a report that Kendra Wilkinson blew a kiss to a certain Colts receiver just before a certain onside kick in last years Super Bowl.
No need to elaborate on Romo and Simpson. We will just say pink jerseys.
And when Kim started dating Reggie Bush back in 2007, his numbers went from rising NFL superstar to second-string back.
There were recent reports that Austin did not catch that "cold bug" that spread over Dallas this past week. If he can't catch a cold then how can he manage to catch Romo's fast-ball passes over the middle?
Are you worried yet, Miles? With a not-so-stellar year for Roy Williams and a rookie named Dez, the Cowboys are placing a lot of their chips on you.
