You didn't think Patrick Crayton was going to shy away from the media yesterday, did you?
Still say a battle between him and Roy for the #2/#3 job would go down to the wire because I don't see where Roy has done anything to tell us he's head over heels better than Crayton.

Dez Bryant was not able to go today for the Cowboys, read here.
Rookie receiver Dez Bryant was a little more active on Wednesday than the day before, but still missed practice with tightness in his left hamstring.
Bryant initially complained about the injury during Tuesday’s OTA practice, prompting him to watch the remainder of the workout from behind the offensive huddle. On Wednesday, Bryant began the process of working back into practice, spending most of the day with the trainers.
I really hope this kid is going to be available for the minicamp this weekend.

Here's Tim MacMahon on with Galloway and Company talking about the Marion Barber situation and also the film session Wade held today for the Dallas are media...
TMac on GAC - Jun 8, 2010
Did he just call me an 'internet creature'? LMAO. So Greg Ostertag wants to call me an internet creature. I kid, I kid.
I know a lot of people get on TMac for his reporting, but the guy keeps it real so I am a big fan of his stuff.
Love the film session breakdowns. I am gonna go out on a limb and say that Martellus Bennett was the TE who was screwing up the play. And that's all it takes is for him to run out there and mess it up for the entire offense. Remember this next time you hear Jason Garrett talk about execution.
Us fans just sit back and rag about these players during games and it's nice to hear from Tim about how hard their jobs really are as they have to learn these enormous playbooks and put it all together on gameday.

The Cowboys have a lot of moving part right now in the secondary as far as the Free Safety and the 4th CB jobs go...
AOA baby! He's the sleeper right now who could play a major role in the 2010 defense. I could see him getting in some time at that 4th CB spot if he's not fighting for the starting Free Safety job.
Going to be fun watching these guys battle it out in the five preseason games.

You will see in the video below the actual play where Marion Barber hurts his quad muscle last season. And then in the story from ESPNDallas below you will read about how he played thru the pain for the final 13 games...
TMac report on Barber being dinged up for final 13 games,
read here.
Cowboys running back coach Skip Peete said it's a six-week injury. Barber missed just one game.
"He still has a hole in it," Peete said Tuesday.
Barber, who doesn't speak to reporters, battled numerous injuries last season. In addition to the quad injury, Barber played with a bruised left knee and a broken thumb. In the two playoff games, Barber battled thigh and knee issues, rushed for just 18 yards on 11 carries with no touchdowns.
But the quad injury, originally described by team officials as a bruised thigh, earned him plenty of respect in the locker room.
"That just shows you how strong-willed he is," fellow running back Felix Jones said. "He's one of the more physical guys in the world. It's like a slap in the face to criticize him. Your putting your body on the line in getting hit from all types of directions. That's somebody you look up to. He's shown us a lot."
In the offseason, Barber has worked hard to take 10 pounds off his 6-foot, 222-pound frame to add quickness so he can become more elusive. In the last few weeks, former Cowboys running backs Emmitt Smith and Tony Dorsett have noted that Barber needs to avoid hits so he can have a longer career.
Barber has not rushed for more than 1,000 yards in a season during his career, yet he remains the Cowboys' starting running back. Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones said he wants his lead back to become more of a closer, especially when the Cowboys are trying to close out ballgames.
"There is no question about his toughness," Cowboys strength and conditioning coach Joe Juraszek said. "He's prideful about his job. As tough as he is and as much pride as he is, for him to miss any time is a surprise to me."
Here's where I have a problem with this situation.
Tashard Choice is sitting on the bench. When MBIII is out there running on half a leg and he rumbles for a five yard gain I have to wonder if Tashard Choice would have not have run for a 12 yard gain on that same play.
If there were no other options I could Barber going out there. But isn't it the coaches job to put the best available player on the field at all times? Don't the coaches see that a twelve yard gain is better for the team than a five yard gain?
I love that MBIII is a warrior who is willing to give his body to the game. But when the Cowboys went into the Meadowlands last December 6th and MBIII carried the ball 15 times for 36 yards and the Cowboys lost 31-24 I nw wonder if the outcome would have been different if those 15 carries had gone to Tashard Choice.
There is only one person who gets the blame here. Wade Phillips. He's the head coach and it's his job to sit Barber if he has a better option for the game. And no one is going to convince me that an unhealthy hobbling Marion Barber is a better option than a 100% healthy Tashard Choice.

Just got a chance to check out all of the OTA reports and it seems that things were moving fast and furious out there today...

I've read the discussion about cutting Crayton. I personally do not know if thats the best idea at the moment. I would much rather go with Miles, Roy, Dez , Pat and Kev as opposed to cutting Pat and keeping Sam Hurd. Other than money(in an uncapped season) would we cut a proven clutch receiver and keep two that really haven't proven a thing? |

Dez was sitting out due to a sore hamstrong, read here.
Rookie wide receiver Dez Bryant was held out of the second half of the Dallas Cowboys Organized Team Activities workout on Tuesday because of tightness in the left hamstring.
Bryant went through all drills in the first half of practice with the first offensive group, which included Roy Williams and Miles Austin at receiver. When Bryant reported tightness in the hamstring, the athletic-training staff held him out of the remainder of practice. Bryant will attempt to practice on Wednesday.
``They didn't want to take any chances,'' Bryant said. ``It's not frustrating at all. I'm just following orders, and they wanted to hold me out until (Wednesday). I feel like I'm picking up the offense.''
Shouldn't be a problem as long as he's back tomorrow. That is two OTA sessions he's missed though. I hope he doesn't miss any more of the these last five because the kid is a rookie who needs all of this offseason stuff.
Todd Archer had some observations from today's sessions,
read here. ** Keith Brooking said last week he would return for the mini-camp and from the look of his rehab work with associate trainer Britt Brown it certainly looks like he'll be there. Brooking was doing resistance training with Brown, which is usually the last step to get on the field.
** Pro Bowl nose tackle Jay Ratliff attended the last half of practice. He spent his off-season in Atlanta rehabbing from elbow surgery during the off-season.
** Sam Hurd made the most of his opportunities in becoming the No. 3 wide out in Dez Bryant's absence. This is why I think the Cowboys might keep six wide outs when they make their final cuts. When called upon, Hurd makes plays.
If David Buehler can show the Cowboys that he can handle the kicking job all by himself then I could see them going with six WR's.

Sean Lee calls into Sirius NFL Radio to talk about the Cowboys OTA's with Gil Brandt and Brian McGovern...
Sean Lee on Sirius - Jun 7
He's already one of my favorite players on the Cowboys and he's never stepped on the field in uniform yet. I know one thing about him and that's the fact that he's going to be in the right spot on 95% of the plays where he's in the game.
Just made this video a few days ago of a fw plays of his against Michigan State...

Tony Romo didn't qualify for the US Open but he says he learned some things from his time on the course today, read here.
"It's a good golf course," said Romo, who played the course on Sunday. "Really tough."
It was a nice day for Romo on the golf course who played in front of his dad Ramiro, who smoked a couple of cigars along the way.
"It was a good day," Romo said. "I put myself in contention there a little bit and I think the delays were positive and negative but it's exciting to be competing and it's fun to teach yourself lessons on the golf course [and] about sports in general. And I took away a few things today I'm going to use in football, so that’s a positive in that respect and it's just fun going out there and competing."
Romo's struggles on that first hole in round two, just carried onto the next hole.
"On that first hole, your out of it," Romo said. "At that point, I think your just trying things then, your always trying to improve and get better. If I had finished the round the rest of the way would have been about trying to improve as a golfer."
He was all good until that second round began and he shot an 8 on the first hole. That was pretty much the nail in the coffin.
We go the video tape...

Will this be the year Jerry Jones finally gets around to putting Drew Pearson and maybe others into the Ring Of Honor...
Gil Brandt talks about Pearson
Last season I thought Jerry was going to do this. I figured he would add Pearson, Harvey Martin and maybe Daryl Johnston.
Maybe if guys like Roger Staubach and Troy Aikman push Jerry a little this can actually happen.
